Hello, my name is Storyteller Sara, and I am rewilding the landscape of my soul as I heal from c-PTSD or complex trauma. 8 years ago I was diagnosed with PTSD after almost a decade of suffering with estrangement from my family on my own. I use a pseudonym to protect my anonymity in my private and professional life, and to maintain the anonymity of my family members.

Narcissistic personality disorder, borderline personality disorder, alcoholism, complex trauma, scapegoating, and estrangement have all deeply affected my life. However, these labels are heavily stigmatized in our society—particularly in the Church.

While I believe in the power of naming relational dynamics and patterns of behavior to help victims of abuse or anyone affected by someone else’s undiagnosed mental illness or untreated addiction find their way forward in recovery, I do not believe in public humiliation.

I have a Masters in Human Services Counseling, but I am not a licensed therapist. I am qualified to recognize the symptoms of a mental illness, but not to formally diagnose. Furthermore, my 12-step program teaches we do not label another person an “addict” [or as having a mental illness] unless that person has already done so him or herself.
