Your Peace is Your Pace
a poem for choosing peace over compulsive performing.
Your Peace is Your Pace
Written January 24, 2019
I can choose a gentler path today.
I can go at the pace of my peace within.
Instead of hard driving with criticisms of how I am not measuring up, I can be still and allow my soul to be restored with the strength and assurance I need to stand and walk without my ankles turning or my feeble knees giving way.
Look at the lilies of the field. “This is how they grow”. They do not labor or spin. They turn. They are turned. To face the sun. They are rooted and still as they grow, and as they display their splendor.
I can choose a gentler path today.
I can go at the pace of my peace within.
I can choose to trust this peace as the One who knows where we are going, knows how to give me what I need, and knows when I need it. I am not the sun. I do not know the path around the world from its decent into the depths of darkness to its rising again.
The Light was sent over the water before the beginning of time, and he has come to walk on my chaos again. My job always has been, and always will be, simply to follow this Light at the pace of my Peace now within.
